About
We started Basis because the basics were broken.
Walk into any store or scroll through any marketplace — the t-shirts under ₹500 feel like paper. The ones that actually feel good cost ₹1,500 or more. There's a gap in the middle, and nobody was filling it.
Basis exists to close that gap.
Every piece we make starts with the fabric. We source 180–400 GSM cotton and cotton-blend materials — the same weight and hand feel you'd find in international labels — and build simple, well-constructed garments around them. No loud graphics, no trend-chasing, no inflated pricing.
What we believe:
→ Fabric weight matters more than brand names. A 240 GSM cotton tee shouldn't cost ₹2,000.
→ Basics should last. We use bio-washed fabrics, reinforced stitching, and construction that holds up wash after wash.
→ Less is more. Our lineup is intentionally focused — a capsule wardrobe of tees, shirts, joggers, shorts, and layers in colours that work together.
→ Transparency builds trust. Every product page tells you the exact GSM, fabric composition, and fit. No vague marketing speak.
Where we are today:
We're a young brand, and we're building in public. Our catalogue is focused, our operations are lean, and every order ships from India. We're not trying to compete with fast fashion — we're building an alternative to it.
If you've ever wished someone would just make a solid tee in good fabric at a fair price — that's exactly what we did.
Welcome to Basis.
